Studies of the Large Magellanic Cloud. VIII. The Cluster NGC 1831.
Abstract
A color-magnitude diagram of the cluster NGC 1831, a so-called "blue globular cluster" of the Large Magellanic Cloud, is found to resemble strongly that of M11 except for the brightness of its giant branch which is 1.5 mag. too bright. This is interpreted as a chemical composition difference between the two clusters. Five variable stars are found to lie in, or superimposed on, the cluster.
