Studies of the Large Magellanic Cloud. V. The Young Populous Clusters.
Abstract
The Large Magellanic Cloud contains 23 clusters that in shape and number of stars resemble globular clusters; however, the clusters contain bright blue stars, and a few contain classical cepheid variables The evidence indicates that in age and evolutionary development these 23 clusters are similar to open cluster in our Galaxy, although most have very much larger numbers of stars. The distribution of clusters with age is difficult to explain.
