Four-color photometry of eclipsing binaries. IIIb: Zeta Phoenicis, analysis of light curves and determination of absolute dimensions.
Abstract
Summary. Four-colour uvby observations of the bright early-type double lined eclipsing binary Phe, which are published separately, are analysed and discussed in the present paper. The determination of photometric elements is carried out by simulating models of the system and generating light curves for comparison with the observations. As model type the one used by Wood has been applied taking into account deformation of the components, limb darkening, gravity brightening and reflection; for the latter an improvement of the original treatment has been used. Third light has been accounted for in relation to the contribution from the two close visual companions RMK 2 B and RST 1205 B which were included in the measurements of Phe. In combination with spectroscopic results obtained by Popper data for radii and masses together with other astrophysical data are given in Table 6. A comparison with new stellar evolutionary models calculated by Hejlesen yields the helium content Y =0.30+0.03 for the two component of Phe.
