Four-colour photometry of eclipsing binaries. IXb. AI Hya, light curves and photometric elements.
Abstract
Summary. Photometric elements are derived for the eclipsing binary Al Hya using the model simulation method by Wood. The elements are very well determined since the primary minimum is a totality. Although masses are not available we estimate the components to be in the core hydrogen exhaustion phase or in the beginning of the shell hydrogen burning phase. The bigger and cooler star seems to be a Scuti variable with a pulsation constant Q = 0.0259 + 0.0004 corresponding to a radial first overtone oscillation. Key words: eclipsing binary - uvby photometry - light curves - photometric elements - 8 Scuti stars
