Four-colour photometry of eclipsing binaries. VIII: CV Velorum, light curves,, photometric elements and absolute dimensions.
Abstract
Summary. The double lined eclipsing binary CV Vel (B 2.5V) was observed in the Str6mgren uvby system and the light curves were analysed using D.B. Wood's model simulation program WINK. The photometric elements derived are combined with new accurate spectroscopic data obtained by Andersen (1975) to give the absolute dimensions presented in Table 6. A comparison with stellar models calculated by Hejlesen yields the helium content Y =0.28+0.02 and an age of 3 10 years for the components of CV Vel. Key words: eclipsing binary - uvby photometry- photometric elements absolute dimensions
