Safety of cyclists interacting with autonomous vehicles: A combined microscopic simulation and SSAM analysis
Abstract
We defined three cycling behaviours (cautious, normal, and aggressive). The distribution of surrogate indicators shows no differences in cycling behaviour. There is association between severity of temporal indicators and cycling behaviour. An important direction for future research is to validate cycling behaviours. A two-plane conflict diagram for bicycle-vehicle interactions is needed.
