VizieR Online Data Catalog: XMM-Newton Serendipitous Source Catalogue 4XMM-DR12 (Webb+, 2023)
Abstract
The 4XMM-DR12 catalogue contains source detections drawn from 12712 XMM-Newton EPIC observations, covering an energy interval from 0.2keV to 12keV. These observations were made between 2000 February 3 and 2021 December 31 and all datasets were publicly available by 2021 December 31, but not all public observations are included in this catalogue.
The following table gives an overview of the statistics of the catalogue in comparison with the 4XMM-DR11 catalogue. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4XMM-DR12 4XMM-DR11 Increment --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Number of observations 12712 12210 502 Number of 'clean' observations 10543 10247 296 (i.e., observation class < 3) Observing interval 03-Feb-00 03-Feb-00 31-Dec-21 17-Dec-20 1 yr Sky coverage, taking overlaps into account ( >= 1ksec exposure) 1283 sq.deg 1239 sq.deg 44 sq.deg Number of detections 939270 895415 43855 Number of 'clean' detections (i.e., summary flag < 3) 821953 787963 33990 Number of unique sources 630347 602543 27804 Number of 'cleanest' (summary flag = 0, 20169 19077 1092 not in high-background fields) extended detections Number of detections with spectra 337058 319565 17493 Number of detections with timeseries 336776 319292 17484 Number of detections where probability 7697 7283 415 of timeseries being constant is <1x10-5 The production and content of the 4XMM catalogue is described in the the 4XMM-DR12 User Guide at http://xmmssc.irap.omp.eu/Catalogue/\ 4XMM-DR12/4XMM-DR12CatalogueUser_Guide.html The slimline version of the catalogue (file "xmm4d12s.dat") contains one row per unique source (while the the main catalogue has one row per detection) and thus has 630347 rows. There are 45 columns, essentially those containing information about the unique sources. The catalogue also contains a column with links to the IRAP catalogue server summary pages. In the case of sources with multiple detections, the summary page of the best detection is selected (i.e., the detection with the largest exposure time, summed over all cameras), and the summary page gives cross-links to the other detections.
