Phylogeny and evolution of morphological structures in a highly diverse lineage of fruiting-body-forming amoebae, order Trichiales (Myxomycetes, Amoebozoa)
Abstract
Increasing taxa sampling revealed unexpected phylogenetic relationships. The structures of the fruiting bodies follow intricate evolutionary patterns. Transitions between character states occurred rather within- than among clades. Ancestral state reconstructions question the homology of some traits.
