Enhanced Visualization using Kamodo for CCMC ITM Instant Runs
Abstract
Kamodo is an open source python software package that functionalizes diverse datasets from models and observations in a consistent way, enabling advanced scientific analysis and visualization with simplistic syntax. Here, we demonstrate this ability using several different Instant Run outputs. The Instant Run interface at the CCMC has recently undergone a major upgrade from a form-based system to a more modern interactive system with a greatly improved user interface. Instant run models are now containerized and the new system includes more error checking, uniform page styling, and more output options with a modular design to facilitate and simplify the process of adding new models. We have incorporated outputs from the HWM (Horizontal Wind Model), MSIS (an empirical atmospheric model), and IRI (International Reference Ionosphere) models used in the Instant Run interface into Kamodo to provide enhanced interactive visualization of their results. This will not only enable this visualization in the Instant Run interface, but allow the model results to be used for model-model and data-model comparisons in other Kamodo tools.
