Community-led updates to global living space weather roadmap
Abstract
This global roadmap for 2015 - 2025 (Schrijver et al., Advances in Space Research, 2015: DOI: 10.1016/j.asr.2015.03.023) provided an assessment of the field of space weather from the scientific and end-user viewpoints. The roadmap made several recommendations on the development of observational and modeling capabilities, on building global infrastructure optimizing utilization of existing space weather resources, and on creating coordinated, collaborative, information-sharing environment that brings together international scientific, engineering and operational communities, and impacted societal groups. To address challenges identified in the roadmap the COSPAR Panel on Space Weather (PSW) established an active network of International Space Weather Action Teams (ISWAT). Community-driven ISWAT initiative addresses space weather roadmap recommendations, serves as a channel for a global community voice, assesses progress in various areas of space weather, and advances space weather predictive capabilities based on best science available. As part of the COSPAR PSW terms of reference, the ISWAT is committed to evolve the currently frozen roadmap into a regularly updated living document. The presentation will outline approach and an action plan for community-led roadmap update from bottom-up.
