Understanding factors influencing shared e-scooter usage and its impact on auto mode substitution
Abstract
A survey is conducted to obtain sociodemographic information of shared e-scooter users, user opinions and riding behaviors. Random parameter order probit model is estimated to understand use frequency of shared e-scooters. Mixed logit model is used to model the mode substitution of shared e-scooters. Shared e-scooters can address congested parking issuesand are promising for reducing auto use. Recommendations on improving shared e-scooter programs are presented.
