Plate Tectonics on Mars Hindered by Buoyant Martian Eclogite
Abstract
Our high P-T phase equilibrium experiments suggest the martian crustal slabs made of shergottite are less likely to sink to the mantle because of the buoyancy relationship, which hindered the development of tectonics on Mars.
