Tree species composition and soil properties in pure and mixed beech-conifer stands drive soil fungal communities
Abstract
Soil fungal communities (SFC) were determined by DNA barcoding-Illumina sequencing. SFC differ among beech, conifer and mixed beech conifer stands. Relative abundance of conifers, region, and soil chemistry shape SFC. The guilds of saprotrophic fungi increased and mycorrhizas were unaffected by conifers. Phylogenetically related fungal taxa show variable responses to site conditions.
