Remediation of cadmium and lead polluted soil using thiol-modified biochar
Abstract
A novel thiol-modified biochar was prepared via esterification with β-mercaptoethanol. In binary-metal system, RS selectively adsorbed Cd2+ over Pb2+. RS reduced Cd availability by up to 40 %, and afforded limited immobilized of Pb. RS could be effective amendment for remediation of soil pollution.
