Exploration of the pore-forming mechanisms of Tween80 and biocompatibility of the hydrogels in vivo
Abstract
In this study, the pore-forming mechanisms of Tween80 and the biocompatibility of the hydrogels with Tween80 as porogen were determined. The results revealed the hydrogels hold excellent biocompatibility. By reducing the degree of crystallinity and crosslinking, and taking away some uncrosslinked HLC and PVA when washed out, Tween80 increased the pore structure, pore size and porosity in the hydrogels, which was the pore-forming mechanisms of Tween80. This study revealed the pore-forming mechanisms and removal method of Tween80, which lays a theoretical foundation for better usage of Tween80 as porogen to prepare porous hydrogels in the future.
