Development of problem based learning based on ethnomatematics to support students' mathematics literacy ability and self-confidence
Abstract
This study is a research and development of mathematics learning devices with Problem Based Learning (PBL) model based on ethnomathematics on trigonometry to support students' mathematics literacy ability and self-confidence. This research and development aim to: (1) know the characteristics of PBL devices based on ethnomathematics. (2) obtain a valid, practical, and effective PBL devices based on ethnomathematics. Learning devices that are developed include Learning Implementation Plans (RPP), Student Worksheets (LKS), Test of Mathematics Literacy Ability and Students' Self-Confidence Questionnaire. This study involved the three of X grade senior high school in Singkawang in 2018/2019. The study method used 3D, namely: define, design, and develop. The results showed that the learning devices that were developed are (1) valid, after going through the validation process, (2) practical, because it gets a good response from students and teachers, and (3) effective learning, because students' mathematics literacy ability achieving classical completeness, there is an influence between students' mathematics literacy ability and students' self-confidence in trial class, as well as there are differences in students' mathematics literacy ability in the three pilot schools.
