The synthesis of gold nanoparticles from printed circuit boards through adsorption and desorption process
Abstract
Printed Circuit Boards waste has been confirmed contained precious metal like gold. Gold from PCB waste can be separated using H2O2-H2SO4 to reduce nonprecious metal and continued by microwave-assisted aqua regia leaching to improve the yield of HAuCl4. HAuCl4 has been purified by an adsorption-desorption process using Mg/Al- Hydrotalcite. Based on Mg and Al mole fraction and analysis of water content, the empirical formula of Mg/Al hydrotalcite is Mg0.5173Al0.4827(OH)2(NO3)0.4827•0.5072H2O. Gold nanoparticles have been synthesized using glutamic acid and trisodium citrate. Surface plasmon resonance of gold nanoparticles has been characterized using UV-Vis spectroscopy.
