Chromosomal karyotype analysis of Camellia sinensis cv Chuanhuang No.1
Abstract
Chuanhuang No.1 is mutated from tea cultivar `Fuding Dabai', and the young shoot is yellow. In this research, we try to obtain cytological parameters on `Chuanhuang No.1'. Seven parameters were measured and calculated. The experiment results showed that max arm ratio was determined 4.06 and the maximum chromosome length was measured 6.55 µm, relative length ranged between 3.19% and 9.47%. There are four types of relative length, including long (L), medium long (M2), medium short (M1) and short (S) chromosomes. In addition, the maximum centromeric index was measured in 47.11%, centromere type were metacentric chromosomes (m), submetacentric chromosomes (sm). and subterminal chromosomes (st), which have nine pairs, five pairs and one pair, respectively. Karyotype asymmetry index was 61.549%, and the karyotype formula was 2n=2x=30=18m+10sm (2SAT)+2st. The karyotype characteristics was type 2C according to Stebbins's classification criteria. The findings revealed its karyotypic characteristics of `Chuanhuang No.1' from the cytogenetic aspects.
