Visualizing Our Planet: Advancements in NASA's Worldview and Global Imagery Browse Services Earth Science Data Visualizations
Abstract
NASA's Global Imagery Browse Services (GIBS) and Worldview interactive mapping site provide instantaneous access to a continuously-updated archive of NASA Earth Observing System (EOS) Earth science data visualizations . This archive spans several decades and contains nearly 1000 full resolution raster- and vector-based visualizations from a wide array of scientific disciplines such as atmospheric, cryospheric, land, ocean, and socioeconomic. The GIBS web services and the Worldview site provide free and open access to these visualizations to a broad range of user communities across domains such as media, earth sciences, mission planning, and education.
The GIBS and Worldview teams are continually expanding the catalog of visualized science data as well as working to improve usability for a variety of users. This abstract presents the latest advances in GIBS services and Worldview end-user experiences. Topics will include new visualizations of vector-based and swath-based data, trans-antimeridian browsing, and GIS tool integration.- Publication:
