Design of robust phase-shifting algorithms using N-step formulas as building blocks
Abstract
We present a general theory that allows us to easily design robust phase-shifting algorithms (PSA) using the frequency transfer function (FTF) formalism and N-step PSAs as building blocks. The resulting algorithms require M(N-1)+1 phase-shifted samples to be taken from M temporal periods, with M ≥ 2. By design, our proposed PSAs are robust against noise and harmonics even under detuned conditions, and tolerate (bandlimited) slow temporal variations of the bias component and fringes' contrast. We support our conclusions with numerical simulations.
