Low temperature CO oxidation on cerium dioxide nanorods
Abstract
CeO2 is a highly efficient catalyst for low temperature oxidation of CO owing to its non-toxicity and fast Ce4+/Ce3+ redox cycle. In this research work, needle-like cerium dioxide nanorods were prepared by hydrothermal method using cerium nitrate in an alkaline solution. The diameters of the nanorods were about 10 nm and had lengths of up to several micrometers. The unique morphology of ceria prevents the nanoparticles from agglomeration and significantly improves the catalytic activity for CO oxidation.
