Burial and Stability of Martian South Polar CO2 Deposits: Implications for Atmospheric Evolution
Abstract
Current buried CO2 deposits on South polar Mars suggest that collapses of earlier thick ( 500 mbar) atmospheres would result in massive basal melting. We discuss the "missing CO2" problem in the light of possible sequestration into the regolith.
