About the indicator of energy efficiency of ships
Abstract
An analysis of parameters proposed by the International Maritime Organization for assessing the energy efficiency of ships is presented in the article. The physical assumptions underlying the methods for determining these parameters are considered: Energy Efficiency Design Index and Energy Efficiency Operational Indicator of ships. It is shown that the IMO parameters proposed cannot be used to assess the energy efficiency of ships and are meters of CO2 emissions from ship engines or, at best, indicators of fuel used by vessels in operation.
