Allometry is intriguing but maths is a fundamental property of nature and therefore, in a very real sense, only maths is the true essence in the development of science. Although a certain kind of tension between theory and empiricism is rather common, any true scientific debate must try to explain the computational diversity of alternative explanations only with robust and far from temporary empirical results.
