Understanding Venus's Seismicity Using SmallSat Radio Occultation Observations
Abstract
We employ the radio occultation (RO) technique to remote sense Venus's atmosphere via cross-link occultations among a constellation of three SmallSats. We assess the number of potential soundings and their location. Using these RO observations, we envision detecting gravity and acoustic wave signatures caused by surface features and seismic events. After the success of the MarCO CubeSats, we explore the possibility of using small satellites to study planetary bodies, including Venus.
