Weak detonations from baryonic matter to strange quark matter
Abstract
We consider the scenario in which baryonic matter burns to strange quark matter in the core of a neutron star. We suppose that the combustion occurs in a narrow zone which can be modeled as a mathematical discontinuity. We pay special attention to the combustion mechanism of detonation, and we show that for high pressures weak detonations can be reached. This result allows to calculate the state of the fluid after the combustion front as a function of the density before the combustion front for wider density ranges that in previous works.
