CPV module based on a hybrid solar cell
Abstract
Hybrid solar cells based on InGaP/Ga(In)As/Ge and Si elements integrated in a crystalline silicon heat- removing base and having a system for concentration of optical radiation, based on linear Fresnel lenses and carbon- fiber-reinforced support, have been developed and their characteristics have been examined. These hybrid solar cells with light concentrators yield a specific electric power of 390 W/m2 (AM0, 1367 W/m2) and provide a decrease in the specific weight of the photogenerating part to 1.0 kg/m2. The improved photoelectric characteristics and the radiation hardness of the hybrid elements with light concentrators enable their application in outer space solar arrays and stand-alone power plants with solar light concentration.
