Development of integrated photo-catalyst adsorbent (IPCA) for simultaneous capture and conversion of CO2 to methanol
Abstract
The present invention relates to synthesis an improved heterogeneous photocatalyst. Hydrogen exfoliation graphene is used as coupled material of cop per loaded titanium oxide to enhance the electron capture and transport properties which substantially increase the photo induced charge transfer and extend the life time of photo generated charge carriers. Hydrogen exfoliation graphene was prepared through H2-purging at 200°C for 2-3 minutes in a quartz-type muffle furnace whereas sono-chemical based sol-gel method was applied for the preparation of graphene coupled copper loaded titanium oxide with a unique weight ratio. Prepared improved graphene and graphene loaded photocatalyst were exhaustively characterized by different characterization techniques. The high surface area results maximum capture of feed substrate, like CO2 that results high productivity and yields of methanol or ethanol through the phot o-catalytic reduction. Preparation of hydrogen exfoliation graphene based copper loaded titanium oxide with enhanced surface area is the main novelty of this process.
