Quick Analysis Tool for Global Atmospheric Data using Python Tkinter GUI widgets to drive Python Matplotlib plotting
Abstract
Analyzing global Lat/Lon gridded data is a simple task often made cumbersome when using market plotting packages. A quick analysis tool can be easily created with Python Tkinter and Python Matplotlib to view and manipulate your data in exactly the way you desire. The Python module Tkinter provides classes to create basic GUI widgets that can be utilized to create user defined complex widgets tailored to specific needs. These complex GUI widgets can then be linked and synced to drive your analysis tool. This presentation will display a quick view Atmospheric Global Data Processor. It utilizes a library of complex GUI widgets to identify the data, choose plotting parameters, and act on the data. The driving code creates widget event bindings to link and sync the application. Once a useful library of widgets is developed it can be used to drive a quick viewing tool for any type of dataset.
