A measurement of water vapor amid a largely quiescent environment on Europa
Abstract
Prior investigations proved the existence of local density enhancements on Europa's atmosphere, advancing the idea of a possible origination from water plumes. These measurement strategies, however, were sensitive either to total absorption or atomic emissions, which limited the ability to assess the water content. W e present results from direct observations of water vapor and organics on Europa over 17 dates between 2016 and 2017 using high-resolution spectroscopy with the Keck Observatory.
