Development of an urban flood forecast model for near real time flood forecast
Abstract
An urban flood forecast model was developed for near real time urban flood forecast. The developed model simplifies and rescales the drainage network of each sub-drainage basin to dramatically reduce the simulation time. The major sending node and interaction nodes were constructed to do more realistic simulation for inundation detection of sub-drainage basins. The purpose of the developed model is not to get accurate inundation volume with complex hydraulic computation and is to get early warning information if inundation occurrence in sub-drainage basins. The developed urban flood forecast model was applied to the Seoul area which consists of 239 drainage basins. Results showed the possibility of reasonable near real time flood waring information in urban area.
