VizieR Online Data Catalog: Variation of MgHe line profile with temperature (Allard+, 2018)
Abstract
Fig.5 shows the variation of the absorption cross-section σ(cm2) of the MgIHe resonance line with temperature.
The relationship between the computed cross section and the normalized absorption coefficient is: I(Δω)=σ(Δω)/πr0*f where r0 is the classical radius of the electron, and f is the oscillator strength of the transition. The far red wing is linearly dependent on He density for lower densities than 1021cm-3 and can be obtained from the tables given in fig5.dat for T=4000, 6000, 8000 and 12000K (nHe=1021cm-3). For a more complete profile, opacity tables are available on request from nicole.allard(at)obspm.fr (1 data file).- Publication:
