Detection of Li in Li-ion Battery Electrode Materials by Muonic X-ray
Abstract
In order to improve the total performance of Li-ion batteries, one of the key issues is how to proceed a homogeneous reaction in the whole electrodes. This leads to the requirement for a non-destructive analysis technique to observe the distribution of Li in the Li-ion battery under working condition. An elemental analysis with muonic X-ray (μXEA) is known as a unique technique and is expected to be suitable for such purpose. We have therefore performed μXEA on cathode materials with different Li contents. The intensity of muonic X-ray was found to roughly proportional to the Li content.
