Hochauflösendes Monitoring von Karst-Grundwasserressourcen beiderseits des Jordangrabens – Konzepte und Anwendungsbeispiele
Abstract
Im semiariden östlichen Mittelmeerraum mit ausgeprägter Sommertrockenheit nehmen Karstgrundwasserleiter insgesamt die wichtigste Rolle für die Wasserversorgung ein. Langjährige Trocken- und Feuchtperioden zusammen mit einer hohen hydrologischen Dynamik, besonders während Niederschlagsereignissen, sind charakteristisch für diese Gebiete. Innerhalb der untersuchten Karstgebiete im Westjordanland und Jordanien führt die stark zunehmende Besiedlung ferner zu einer Beeinflussung der Wasserqualität. Daher werden zur Erfassung der verfügbaren Wasserressourcen sowie für eine karsthydrogeologische Charakterisierung zeitlich hochaufgelöste Messdaten benötigt. Im Fokus stehen dabei meteorologische Messungen der (natürlichen) hydrologischen Eingangssignale und hochauflösende Messungen an Karstquellen (Ausgangssignale) sowie Messungen der Bodenfeuchte und Oberflächenabflüsse. Die aufgezeichneten Messdaten ermöglichen die Bewertung zahlreicher Fragestellungen, wie (1) der hydrogeologischen Charakterisierung der Aquiferkomplexe, (2) der Ermittlung der Grundwasserneubildungsraten über Bodenwasser- sowie Speicher-Durchfluss-Modelle, (3) der Erfassung der Kontaminationsdynamik im Grundwasser (v. a. Nitrat und E. coli) und daraus resultierend eine Optimierung des Rohwasser-Managements. Mehrere Anwendungsbeispiele aus dem Untersuchungsgebiet veranschaulichen die essentielle Bedeutung zeitlich hochauflösender hydrologischer Messdaten.
