A long-lived lunar magma ocean
Abstract
Discrepancy between the isotopic age measurements of the lunar crust, assumed to reflect the time for lunar magma ocean solidification, and the thermal models is a long standing issue. The latter result in solidification duration much shorter ( 10 Myr) than the former suggest ( 200 Myr). We show that considering the heat piping flux from the convecting solid cumulates into the lat lunar magma ocean significantly helps bridging this gap.
