Investigation of Test Fixtures and Measurement Configurations on the Impedance of "Moso' and "Red Margin' Bamboo
Abstract
The electrical impedance of bamboo over the frequency range of 20 Hz to 100 kHz was studied. The main objective of this work was to develop a method to reliably and reproducibly collect impedance measurements and study potential sources of error due to the test configuration. Similar research has investigated the impedance of fruits and vegetables to monitor for physiological changes. Several different test fixtures were explored yielding contact resistance (introduced between the test leads and bamboo sample) is a significant problem for taking consistent impedance measurements and the impedance of the bamboo is inversely related to its moisture content.
