A simple finite volume scheme for subcritical shallow water flows on staggered grids
Abstract
A simple finite volume scheme is proposed to solve the shallow water equations on staggered grids. We consider the one-dimensional nonlinear shallow water equations in their conservative forms. We limit our research results in this paper for subcritical flows. Numerical tests show that the scheme solves subcritical flow problems quite accurately. In addition, the computation is very cheap due to the simplicity of the scheme.
