Identifying the Electron Diffusion Region Using Model Independent Measurement of Spatial Scale-Meter: (MIMSS-M)
Abstract
Several case studies of published identifications of MMS traversal(s) of the electron diffusion region are re-surveyed using a new tool for
identifying highly likely reconnection sites based on observational evidence for electron demagnetization. The technique produces a scalar assay with error analysis. It uses only same spacecraft MMS observables of unbiased inventories performed during the available electron moment inventory. Interpolations from coarser measurements to electron moment time resolution have not been used.- Publication:
