Boston University All-sky Imager Network to Study the Ionosphere at Low and Midlatitudes
Abstract
Optical observations from the Boston University network of all-sky imagers (ASIs) at low and mid latitudes are used to investigate processes that occur simultaneously at both hemispheres. Variations in airglow patterns in 630.0 nm are used to identify these processes that include low latitude equatorial spread-F (ESF) structures and medium scale travelling ionospheric disturbances (MSTIDs) at midlatitudes. The effects of variations in magnetic declination on the motion of MSTIDs are also investigated.
