Multi-axis heterodyne interferometry for LISA
Abstract
The Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) mission will use precision laser interferometric readout of the position and angle of interial test masses to make measurements of gravitational waves from astrophysical sources. At NASA GSFC we have been developing a Multi-Axis Heterodyne Interferometry (MAHI) prototype, designed to demonstrate the LISA short-arm (test mass to spacecraft) measurement, with components which are also suitable for the long-arm measurement (spacecraft to spacecraft). We will report on the design and implementation of the prototype, as well as the measurement sensitivity achieved to date.
