ALPO Observations of the Remote Planets in 2015-2016
Abstract
This report summarizes brightness measurements of Uranus and Neptune along with brief descriptions of each planet's disk and the relative brightness of Uranus'three brightest moons. The selected normalized magnitudes for Uranus are U(1,α) = -6.30 ± 0.03, B(1,α) = -6.60 ± 0.03, and V(1,α) = -7.13 ± 0.02. The corresponding values for Neptune are U(1,α) = -6.46 ± 0.02, B(1,α) = -6.58 ± 0.03 and V(1,α) = -6.99 ± 0.02. Two bright belts were imaged in red and near-infrared light images of Uranus. Oberon and Ariel are reported to be 0.04 and 0.37 magnitudes dimmer than Titania in an "R610" image.
