Experimental study of forces on freely moving spherical particles during resuspension into turbulent flow
Abstract
Freely moving spherical inertial particles and flow tracers tracked using 3D-PTV. Particles trajectories obtained before, during and after lift-off events in an oscillating grid turbulent flow. Force terms estimated using Maxey–Riley equation. Dominant force during resuspension of freely moving particles is lift and Basset force plays a key role before the lift-off.
