Dynamic models for formation of Occator bright spots
Abstract
A prominent feature of the asteroid Ceres is the large crater Occator, and especially the bright spots seen in its interior. We describe possible mechanisms that could have formed the bright spots and the central pit. These mechanisms can transfer H2O, salts and other minerals from deep reservoirs to the surface. Dynamic processes include cryo-convection, fracture flow, and porous flow.
