Cross sections and nuclear modification factor of Upsilon meson production in p+p and p+Au collisions at √{ s}=200 GeV in the PHENIX experiment
Abstract
Upsilon mesons are one of the most useful probes of the Quark Gluon Plasma formed in heavy ion collisions. However, it is important to understand their formation and modification in a cold nuclear environment. In 2015 the PHENIX experiment collected p+p and p+Au collisions at √{ s} = 200 GeV. These datasets can be used to measure Upsilons in their muon decay channel in the rapidity range 1.2 < y < 2.2. We will present the status of the analysis and potential physics implications from these measurements.
