Uranium tetrafluoride precipitation from solutions prepared by electroreduction
Abstract
The process of uranium tetrafluoride precipitation from solutions strip product solutions after electrochemical reduction was studied. The physicochemical properties of the precipitated uranium tetrafluoride were investigated by various methods. The uranium tetrafluoride precipitated in several different hydrated forms, i.e. UF4.(0.75-2.5)H2O. The proportion of UF4.0.75H2O in the precipitate increased with increasing temperature. The isotopic and granulometric composition, total content of UO2 and UO2F2, tap density and specific surface area of the obtained uranium tetrafluoride meets specification requirements imposed on this product at the conversion plants.
