A review of X-ray selected AGN
Abstract
I will review the effectiveness of X-ray observations in the selection and identification of AGN, utilising studies of both nearby and distant AGN with (primarily) the Chandra, NuSTAR, and XMM-Newton observatories. I will explore how X-ray emission provides an effective discriminator between AGN activity and the emission from galactic processes. I will also discuss whether the selection of AGN in the X-ray band can allow us to construct a complete census of AGN activity.
