Introducing data analysis challenges for GRACE and GRACE Follow-on
Abstract
The project, Mock Data Challenge for GRACE and GRACE Follow-on as a part of the geo-Q project at Lebniz Universität Hannover, started in 2014. The main goal of the project is to generate a set of simulated data for the gravity field community to implement and exchange gravity field recovery techniques. These challenges target different research centers and also interested individuals to test their methods for gravity field recovery from simulated data which will lead to develop data analysis tools and capabilities for GRACE Follow-on data. The data challenges are coordinated from simple gravity field recovery to more advanced ones including laser ranging instrument noise model, which are indeed a preparation campaign for the time of GRACE Follow-on data release. In this presentation, we give details of different data challenges as well as our simulation strategy for simple and advanced challenges.
