Comparison two physics suites for global TC simulations using variable resolution of non-hydrostatic model
Abstract
Using WRF physics suite and a global-non hydrostatic dynamical core with a variable mesh, 10 day TC forecasting have been tested during recent summer time. In order to examine model's ability for TC simulation, we are also testing some events with CAM physics in CESM framework. One of main advantage of simulation on CESM is easy coupling with other component (e.g. POP2) once an atmospheric model is implemented in it. In this study, we compare simulations' results between two different physics suite for TC track, intensity and structure which is highly depend on their low level physics. We also discuss about ability and performance of coupling system which is recently tested using CAM-MPAS.
