Muon-Induced Neutron Background Study for Underground Experiments
Abstract
The study of muon-induced neutron background considered to be the crucial issue for underground experiments is presented. Neutron yields are computed using Geant4 (Monte Carlo particle transport toolkit) for various experimental sites and materials. The dependence of neutron production rates on atomic weight A is carefully explored. As well the influence of surrounding soil on the neutron yield in scintillation detecting volume is evaluated.
