Molecular genetic analysis of Plasmodium vivax isolates from Eastern and Central Sudan using pvcsp and pvmsp-3α genes as molecular markers
Abstract
The genetic diversity of Sudanese P. vivax isolates was carried out using pvcsp and pvmsp-3α genes. All sequenced samples were found to be of VK210 (100%) genotype. Six haplotypes were identified, and the majority of SNPs were identified in repeat region. Types A (94.6%), C (3.6%) and B (1.8%) of the pvmsp-3α alleles were detected. The genetic diversity in Sudanese P. vivax populations showed limited antigenic diversity.
